Video Still Going Strong During Recession
The “eyes” have it. Google, YouTube draws more than 100 million.
adapted from eMarketer data

Latest report from comScore Video Metrix, a global Internet information provider, found a 45 percent increase in Internet video users. The number shot up to more than 13 billion from the same time-period last year.

Google scored top marks engaging 100.5 million unique video viewers, up from 83.7 million in April. Note, however, YouTube accounts for 98 percent of videos viewed on Google.

Fox Interactive Media/MySpace came in at a much-distant second with 60.8 million viewers, followed by Yahoo with 45.2 million viewers and Microsoft with 30.7 million. Viacom Digital with 25.7 million viewers rounded off the top five ranking.

With all the video watching, Marketing Sherpa decided to come out with a Video Benchmark Guide. According to Marketing Sherpa, if you play your cards right, videos can help you generate leads, support product launches and raise product and brand awareness.

Here’s a peek at what else they found and how you can use video to your advantage:

  • Grab your prospect’s attention by creating “edutainment” videos for lead generation;

  • Combine a real-world event with a streaming video component to reach a broader audience, generate leads, or support a product launch. Works especially well if you’re a trade show sponsor or exhibitor;

  • Provide video tours of product/services that will give prospects a faster understanding of your product or service than written content, such as data sheets, promotional copy, or FAQs;

And if you’re a vendor who’s trying to reach the accounting and financial industry, what better way to do so than introducing your products on CPA Insider™’s Video Snacks.
